Marengo Street neighborhood store
This was the neighborhood grocery store, now boarded up. We used to take cans of fat, tinfoil, and string to exchange for food and gasoline ration coupons. Once, Granny McCann sent me $1 for my birthday and I spent it on a box of Hershey bars. Cecile chastised me for being so extravagant, but they were excellent.
