Marengo Street with Dorothy
2000 Marengo Street, New Orleans. We lived in an upstairs apartment from the time I (Dorothy) was about 5 until I was about 9, when we left for France, in 1947. My mother’s mother (Grandma Leona Nelken Bernhard) owned a residence Hotel (Cedar Lawn) and most of the surrounding properties, including this apartment House. Grandma charged us a nominal rent.
