Papa Christelle en tablier, Mars 1948
Papa Christelle raised pigs and perhaps other animals. Dorothy McCann remembers going into the barn, one day, to find a pig hanging by his feet with its throat slit. It was bleeding into a large pan, with which Papa was going to make blood sausage. The McCann family had wonderful meals at the Christelle's home, if we could forget the horde of flys that covered the work tables in the kitchen. Papa loved to hear the children squeal when he was eating the eyes and brains of cooked chickens and ducks. The meals always included a wonderful soup and fresh boiled vegetables. Yum!!
