Dorothy holding Nelly Soave. Jackie (godfather) in back
Madame Soave asked Dorothy to sing Ave Maria at Nelly's baptism. She practiced the song until she had it perfectly memorized. However, on the baptismal day the priest would not allow Dorothy to participate in the baptismal celebration because she was not Roman Catholic. It was a bitter disappointment to Dorothy and to Madame Soave. Shown in the photo, in addition to Dorothy, are Madame Soave's two girls, Madame Soave and Jackie Boncallarie, Dorothy's boyfriend.
