My mother, Cecile Nelken McCann standing in front of the house she lived in as a child, at 10 Richmond Place, New Orleans. The family was very prosperous. Mother’s father was a prominent physician in New Orleans and a land owner. They had a cook, butler and house maid, all of whom lived in the servants quarters of the house.
